The defending champion is being disrespected because majority of the peoples pick the Lakers to win the title and not the Celtics. The Celtics is the defending champion, so why most peoples pick the Lakers to win the title and not the Celtics? The Celtics got almost the same casts, the same starters and the only bench players they lose is James Posey.
