Beacon Hill- Boston’s Most Historic Neighborhood

Tuesday, January 29th, 2008
James Cook asked:

Beacon Hill is one of Boston’s smallest and most historic neighborhoods, featuring a mix of grand townhouses and fashionable shops. Tourists can stroll down Charles Street to spy on pricey antique shops, enticing cafes, and swanky clothing boutiques.

Beacon Hill is a culturally arousing tourist destination in Boston. A visit to Boston’s oldest common is something any tourist shouldn’t miss. The 45 or so acres of the country’s oldest public park have served as a cow pasture, a military camp, and the site of hangings, protest marches, and visits by dignitaries. Today the Common is a bit run-down, especially compared with the adjacent Public Garden, but an overhaul began in 2007. Even with large parcels of land roped off, the Common buzzes with activity all day. You might see a demonstration, a musical performance, a picnic lunch, or a game of tag. Almost every significant event that had taken place on “The Common” has been commemorated by a plaque that visitors can observe in their quest to decipher the history of the place.

Nearby to the Common is a memorial that holds a very special place in American History and is not to be missed by History buffs. Its 221 feet tall, a memorial designed by Augustus Saint-Gaudens to celebrate the deeds (indeed, the very existence) of Col. Robert Gould Shaw and the Union Army’s 54th Massachusetts Colored Regiment, who fought in the Civil War.

Also a plethora of museums can also be seen and some of the mot important are the Boston’s Children’s Museum, The Science Museum, The Bunker Hill and the Harvard Museum of Natural History.

A number of Boston hotels can be found in the Beacon Hill area which is a regular stopover for tourist visiting New England. Hotels in Boston usually range form the homely Bed and Breakfast to fully fledged star class hotels. But for travelers who want to spend most of their time enjoying the sights and sounds of Beacon Hill and the city of Boston it is recommended that they stay at a hotel near Beacon Hill, as it offers easy access to most place in Boston by train.

Consider US corpoate business practices in the past and present; slavery, broken treaties, union breaking, profit theft, etc… Do you think that All of the tea went into the harbor, or maybe some large portion of it went to an underground market for sell?

How many championships do you see the Boston Celtics winning with the team they have now?

tatethegreat74 asked:

Tim Duncan got 4 rings, will he get anymore before his career is over and how will he compare with Kevin Garnett at the end of their both future Hall of Fame careers? Shaquille O’Neal has 4 currently as well. So of all the big men I see they can all possibly have at least 3 in their careers before it is all over for all 3 of the big men. How many do you believe Garnett will get though as a Celtic?

jamiehanson asked:

The Boston Red Sox are a major league baseball team. The Red Sox are located in Boston, Massachusetts and having its home ballpark at Fenway Park, the team has constantly climbed up the American League eastern division. The Sox are consistently playing night in and night out in order to win another World Series. Having won the World Series in 2007, the Boston Red Sox have been a dominate team. In pursuance of the move, they re-signed quite a few players. The list included the likes of Mike Lowell, Tim Wakefield and Curt Shilling. All of them together boosted the chances of the Boston Red Sox to no end. Veteran Sean Casey was added at the last moment to lead the team. The Boston Red Sox played rather well in the start and even topped Al East but with time, they succumbed and the injury list kept mounting. Mid way into the season the team began to struggle. Then, the un-thinkable happened, Kerry Yuokillis started strengthening the outfit with his flurry of home runs and RBI’s; quite a unique distinction that he managed in 2008. Though the Boston Red Sox made one of the most startling game comebacks in ALCS history, but they could not defend the Tampa Bay Rays in the World Series. .AwesomeSeating.com is an online ticket broker agency that deals with selling online tickets for the Boston Red Sox games.
